What is Promotion?

Promotion Night is a special event to honor students who have earned their next belt rank or star. You know you are getting ready to promote when your attendance card is almost full, and you're about to earn your final stripe on your belt!

How do I know if I'm promoting?

Look for the promotion list to be posted in the school. This will have a tentative list of students who may or may not be promoting at the next promotion event. In order to earn their next promotion, students must maintain excellent attendance, return their completed Intent to Promote form and fulfill the 5 Key Rating requirements as detailed on the ITP form. Students or their parents must also return the promotion fee to the office. Promotion fees are typically due the Wednesday before Promotion. After this day, a late fee applies, so get your fees in on time!

What is an ITP?

ITP stands for "Intent to Promote" and the ITP form is handed out to students during their regular classes. Only students on the tentative testing list will receive an ITP for that promotion event. The ITP includes a section for a parent and teacher to rate the student, as well as a self-assessment section for the student to complete themselves. Compleated ITPs can be returned to the office or to an instructor.

What is Promotion Night?

Promotion Night is a chance for students to show their family and friends what they have learned. Students are encouraged to invite spectators to cheer them on as they acheive their next goal! Because the school can get busy on Promotion Night, students should arrive 10-15 minutes before their scheduled time to get ready and out on the floor. All levels will be expected to demonstrate skills that have been learned in class. Instructors will practice these skills with students during classes, but students can always ask their instructors to make sure they are prepared. Promoters receive their next belt or star at the promotion event, as well as a certificate of acheivement.

Where do we go after Promotion?

After a Promotion Event, students meet at Rocky's Party Pizzaria near East Towne Mall. Here we can all celebrate with games and pizza, and students deserve it for a job well done!
